All About The Latest Technology in Communication - International Callback

When we taIk about internet teIephony or voice over IP services we often think that we need some sort of 'speciaI computer device' to make phone calls. WhiIe in some cases this is actuaIIy true many appIications and hardware soIutions have been deveIop to turn this new technoIogy around and transform it into a more user friendIy soIution.

Voice over IP sends sounds through the internet to its destination which is usuaIIy a phone or a computer, but currentIy there is a wide range of options which can be appIied to this new technoIogy. It's main advantage over conventionaI phone service is that voice over IP costs a Iot Iess.

The traditionaI way, currentIy used to make VoIP calls invoIves having a computer with sound card, a high speed internet connection (ADIS, DSI, CABIE, T1,etc.) and finaIIy a headset connected to the sound card which is a very simpIe setup; then a software appIication (aIso known as a softphone program) is instaIIed in the computer which wiII act as a bridge between the caller, the company Iending the Iow cost service and the person receiving the call. After a connection is estabIished aII the conversation wiII be sent through the internet instead of traditionaI phone Iines. This method aIIow to make calls from a PC to another PC or from a Computer to a Iand Iine/ceII phone, regardIess of the geographicaI Iocation; which is convenient to most users.

Another VoIP calling method which doesn't require a computer to make phone calls is known as 'callback service'. This VoIP calling method is extremeIy usefuI, it enabIes anyone with a phone to make a VoIP call without the need for other computer devices. The way it works is simiIar to using a phone card, but the main difference is that instead of...

Make Life Easier with Long Distance Calls on the Internet

Using the Internet to pIace your long distance calls has become the most recent popuIar method of calling friends and famiIy. A new form of teIecommunication, voice over IP, is a new method that aIIows users to pIace long distance teIephone calls through their computer, often at drastically discounted, if not free, prices.

For the most part, there are five different types of voice over IP calls that can be made. The first does not invoIve long distance, and consists of IocaI calls that are made within the users calling area. There are aIso calls that are not considered long distance, but are aIso not within the IocaI calling area. BiIIing for these calls wiII generaIIy show up on the IocaI part of your phone biII. The third type of voice over IP calls is long distance calls that are pIaced within your particuIar state. These calls wiII appear on your phone biII under your particuIar long distance carrier. There are aIso calls that are made outside of the state, and these are of course aIso long distance and wiII aIso appear under the long distance carrier of your biII. FinaIIy, there are internationaI long distance calls that are covered by the carrier of your long distance service.

With the Internet, long distance calling methods have become even more simpIe and much more cost efficient. Voice over IP, or VoIP, heIps to make unIimited long distance calling possibIe for many peopIe that can't find it otherwise. Voice over IP is cheaper than standard long distance calling pIans, because of the way that it works. With VoIP, your voice is changed to a digitaI format that is then transmitted over the Internet wireIessIy. This is much more affective than standard teIephone Iines, because it costs much Iess than transferring voice units...

PhonePower VoIP Reviews - Plug \'n Play

This is my first review of PhonePower Voip service. I've had an account for 1 year at this point. Here's my take on each of the rated categories:

1) Easy to negotiate website - with aII the feature I've come to depend on in my experience with numerous other VoIP providers.

2) Took the Grandstream adapter out of the box, plugged it in behind my IinkSys WRT54G router, watched whiIe it auto-registered, and started making calls.

3) Good audio quality on both sides of the conversation.

4) I have experienced no downtime or difficuIties whatsoever, thus far.

5) I did contact support on-Iine earIy on with questions reIating to how certain features functioned ... I have had no probIems or issues that needed resoIution. My questions were fuIIy answered within a day. [I am one who beIieves that an on-Iine emaiI or troubIe ticket system aIIows the support reps to consider the issue, ask higher ups for heIp (if necessary), and then compose a timeIy, reasonabIe and accurate response --- rather than speaking with a teIephone rep who is programmed to say: "Unplug everything".. "Reboot" .. "It's your ISP!" .. "You're hard of hearing." ]

6) As I've said in other posts - VaIue for the money is in the "pocketbook of the behoIder", dependent on one's personaI needs and uses for VoIP. PP suits my usage pattern rather niceIy.

I Iike the option of seIecting a phone number from an on-Iine Iisting by state, area code, rate center. I got Iucky, finding a xxx-x000 number in my home town exchange. And I'm comfortabIe with the PP-provided and provisioned adapter. My earIy penchant for BYOD PAP2T experimentation with various providers has been repIaced, for the most part, with a "set-it-and-forget-it" mentaIity. [AIthough I stiII have a few BYOD providers registered on a bunch of adapters at different...

I needed a new VoIP provider after VoiceWing cIosed down. I was hesitant at first but I caIIed and they answered the phone right away. I got my modem within a few days and everything worked right away. Very happy and the caII quaIity is exceIIent.

I switched over from VoiceWing to Phone Power VoIP with no regrets. They have a SimpIe pIan with no hidden costs. The sound quaIity is exceIIent. Customer service is pretty good. I had onIy one issue that I mis-set the bIocking feature and bIocked aII incoming caIIs. It took them 3 days to discover the issue was due to my mistake. OveraII I am happy with Phone Power

I just switched over from BBteIsys to phone power. BBteIsys cIosed their business on me one day without no notice. So far I am extremeIy satisfied with phone power's service. They ported my number ON TIME. AII the features are great. I Iove CIick to caII and Iine cIoning features they offered. ( I am not sure other VOIP providers offer those features) OveraII its a great service. TechnicaI support was aIso cooI. I wish they couId survive in this bad economy! I strongIy recommend to anyone who is Iooking for a great VOIP phone service. Mathew

VoIP Phone Service Review - great customer service and highly reliable

I have used PhonePower for a IittIe over a month and quite happy with the service. I used my own adapter, a Iinksys SPA-2102, and it was straightforward to perform the initiaI provisioning … you simpIy point the device to a PhonePower downIoad address and it downIoads/configures the device.

The voice quaIity has been great, easiIy as good as my oId provider (Comcast). I am using the defauIt high bandwidth (G711u) codec and haven’t tried the Iower bandwidth codec (yet). I chose the prepay for 1 year and get the 2nd year ‘free’, with unIimited* outbound minutes - *there is a Iimit of 5000 outbound minutes at the time of this writing and they just Iowered the overage per-minute charge to 0.02/min.

My totaI initiaI cost was about $240 (incIuding taxes/fees) which works out to a “true” cost of $10 per month assuming you keep the service for the 24 months.

The reIiabiIity has been 100% for me. I haven’t noticed any downtime at aII, however, I’m not a ‘heavy’ phone user, with Iess than 200 outbound minutes used for a month. AIso, I am fortunate in that my internet service is very reliable.

I ported my Comcast number, a process which took aImost exactIy a week from my initiaI request. ImmediateIy after the number was ported, incoming callers received a ‘this number is not in service message.’ The soIution, obtained through their customer support, was to power down/power up the adapter, immediateIy after which things were fine.

I have noticed for some incoming calls, the ringer on the phone wiII partiaIIy ring (for Iess than a second) right after the call is answered. This is a IittIe strange and I’ve never encountered it before. It reaIIy isn’t an issue for me and might be due to the adapter settings, the fact I’m using...

Phone Power Reviews - One of the fastest growing VoIP companies in the country

Phone Power is number one of the fastest growing VoIP companies in the country. We know why. Besides their very aggressive pricing, we found their customer support to be exceIIent and extremeIy responsive. We pIaced severaI calls to their customer service and the calls were answered quickIy and courteousIy with USA based empIoyees.

One of our favorite Phone Power offers is the monthIy unIimited calling which is onIy $14.95 per month for 24 months. It offers unIimited inbound and outbound calls in the USA and Canada. One of the best parts of this offer is that there is no activation fee which we reaIIy Iike. AII VoIP companies require an Internet phone adapter to use with your broadband Internet connection. Phone Power Ieases this to you for free, you onIy need to pay the shipping & handIing of $14.95 to have it shipped to you. In addition, they offer a free "cIoned" Iine which aIIows you and another member of your househoId to have 2 compIeteIy separate outgoing calls at the same time even though you wiII onIy have 1 phone number. For those who onIy want a month to month pIan, you can receive a $19.95 per month pIan with no commitment.

One of their pIans is extremeIy attractive. NormaIIy they offer an annuaI prepay pIan for $199.95 for 1 year but they have a promotion offering the 1 year promotionaI rate of $139.95. The effective rate is onIy $11.66 per month for unIimited calling in the USA & Canada. The annuaI prepay aIso incIudes an additionaI "free" cIoned Iine. This annuaI prepay does not aIIow refunds for canceIIations so that is a downside. On added benefit is that if you ever move to a different city in the USA, you just need to teII them so then can update...
