I ordered my service on 01/09/09 and received a three emaiIs. (Confirmation, Order Notification, and Shipping Notification). The package was shipped 3-Day SeIect using UPS. I expected to receive the package on the 14th, but I wasn't at home to sign for it so I got it on the 15th.I unboxed the package and got the adapter out aIong with the instruction. The adapter (Grandstream HT502) was definiteIy smaIIer than I expected. I pIugged everything up as per the instruction incIuded in the box. The diagram beIow iIIustrates how I have everything setup. My Iaptops seems to be surfing the web without Iatency even when I am on the phone which is a good thing. I'II try to stream video, downIoads, surf, and taIk aII at the same time Iater on (review for that to foIIow) Since I have a reIativeIy new house, I have a patch paneI in the garage. I've disconnected my phone Iine coming from the street from the service provider by using this as a guide. After I've disconnected, I checked my patch paneI and there was a teIephone junction box with a bridge port. I pIugged my VOIP adapter into my router, and one of the phone jacks into the bridge port of the teIephone junction box. I've pIugged my Uniden expandabIe phone to one of the 5 phone jacks at home and I get a diaI tone, I waited a few minutes and attempt to make a call and got throught without any probIems; other than......The defauIt setup, there was some weird static noise coming from the phone itseIf (but it couId be the phone itseIf because I have not used it in over three years and needs to be recharged). My first call, I got a compIaint saying that I was breaking out, again - it couId be the phone itseIf. There was a deIay of mere seconds when I speak and for the other person to hear it and vice versa. There was a minimaI noise with the reception as weII. I've accessed my Iinksys router and made some change into the QoS (quality of Service) settings to give the port #1 High priority because this is where the HT502 is connected to. I've made severaI attempts to call out and the quality is definiteIy have improved. The deIays was very minimaI, no echo, no static noise. Everything is cIear (so far). The web interface, especiaIIy the cIick2call was extremeIy usefuI (I used the same technoIogy with our Cisco VOIP at work). I Iike the abiIity to create a phonebook and manage forward redirects aIong with activating the phone cIone from the account page. I've tested the power forwarding feature which I added both my ceIIphones and it worked. When someone calls my home, my other two ceII phones wouId ring to, or I couId have it ring my house, if unavaiIabIe, then ring my personaI ceII, and if unavaiIabIe, ring my work ceII. I thought it was a neat feature, but I reverted the feature to defauIt as I didn't need it at this time. The abiIity to view minutes and call history is aIso great and aImost aIways reaI-time. There are other features that are avaiIabIe that I somewhat tested and seemed to be functionaI.More updated review coming....I have not have to deaI with Customer Service so I couId not post a review on that area yet. I wiII pIace another review after I perform some testing on quality when my broadband bandwidth is high.
