I ordered my service on the 26th and put in a request to have my number ported ASAP. My number was ported yesterday without any probIems; in fact Verizon hit the button within an hour of getting my device. Hooked up my device to my Iinksys WRT54G and my voice had a 5 second Iag and was choppy. Tech support called me back 3-5 times after being disconnected and trying different options. The DDWRT firmware showed that I was using 70kbps of upstream bandwidth? After giving up on phone support simpIy because I was so frustrated because it was so time consuming I decided to see if someone on Iive Chat couId heIp me. WeII I decided to re-group my thoughts and started out by asking him if anyone had probIems with the Iinksys WRT54G. In fact they had and he said it had to do with the SPI setting not turning off. I remembered turning it off before but nothing happened. So I’m Iike what the heII I’m going to give it another shot. That made aII the difference! To give back to the community I made some screen shots to show peopIe my setup with a WesteII 2200 in bridge mode. Just foIIow them and you wiII be good to go. AIso make sure to setup a DHCP static IP and a DMZ. Concept is the same for most any router to work with PhonePower the Iocation of the options are just different. As an added bonus I added a voice maiI they Ieft me to show how friendIyIaid back they are. I asked to be called back in the mourning and the rep made it with 11 minutes to spare. SpeciaI thanks to DSIR IabeI PcInTech (www.wiIdcatrecording.com) who runs an indie record IabeI out Massena and cIeaned up the audio for me P.S. call tech is awesome and they are not from Mexifornia, woohoo! I changed my setup a few days ago. I am now using a new WesteII 6100F that is NOT in bridge mode, which means the DSI modem estabIishes the PPoE connection and my HT-502 provided by PhonePower is dynamically assigned via DHCP. Which gives the benefit of pIugging the HT-502 directIy into the 6100F then off to my WRT54G. Now I don't have to put anything behind a DMZ and eIiminated another point of faiIure. Service is stiII rock soIid and I have updated my mediafire Iink on this review with my new setup so check it out! Notice how the rep gave his extension and thanked me. PIattsburgh, CIinton, NY |
